JADA Tap Ensemble, was developed by founding director, Jaye Allison in 2008, to honor unnoticed women in tap dance history through a project funded by the Pew Arts & Heritage program. Six young ladies were hand picked to research the history and develop biographies of 6 legendary tap dance and chorus girls with the mentoring assistance of the Silver Belles Organization. Through this connection, a bond of professionalism and talent were honed and nurtured. The girls earned recognition as the Jr. Belles with original choreography by their mentors and classic staging from the group's repertoire of original work. By 2010, this group branched out to learn more works and premiered on stage as JADA that summer. They are now enjoying the fruits of their works and have traveled to perform at colleges and festivals in 3 states. The young ladies in the JADA Tap Ensemble look forward to spreading the gospel and elegance of tap dance and branch forward even more to include contemporary modern works to their repertoire.
