Since April 2011, Hazzard-Tillman has been calling upon Philadelphia citizens and organizations as part of the Global Seva Challenge, an annual service project led by participants rallying their local communities for a common cause. With a $20,000 goal, Hazzard-Tillman has launched several initiatives this year including a Yoga & Jazz Brunch event at Sherman Mills, and the “Love for Haiti: Visual Poetry Project.” Her efforts will continue from now until December 15, 2011. Once her fundraising target of $20,000 is reached, Hazzard-Tillman will join OTM co-founders and other OTM leaders to travel to Haiti for two weeks and assist firsthand in support efforts.

In support of these efforts, a “Philly Seva” Live Silent Auction event will be held on Saturday September 24th at Vivant Art Collection, located at 60 North 2nd Street. An auction pview begins at 2pm with a cocktail reception to immediately follow from 5pm to 7pm. The event is hosted by popular Philadelphia radio personality Tiffany Bacon and attendees will raise money by bidding on an array of donated items such as spa gift certificates, autographed sports memorabilia and much more.

Inspired by the teachings of OTM co-founder Seane Corn after a recent workshop, Hazzard-Tillman embarked on this fundraising journey in April 2011. “Yoga has given me physical & emotional strength as well as the mental clarity I need to show up as the person I always wanted to be,” says Hazzard-Tillman. She continues, “To know that there are families, not unlike my own, still living in tents with minimal access to clean water and food is hard to process at times… Raising $20K is not easy but being able to leave a lasting financial legacy for people in need while connecting to my own community is incredibly meaningful.”
