Black Women's Art FestivalPhiladelphia’s 7th Annual Black Women’s Arts Festival is scheduled for Thursday, July 29th through Sunday, August 1st, 2010 at three locations: The Rotunda, 4014 Walnut Street, 19104 (Thursday - Films & Workshops from 11:00AM-8:00PM, Friday/Saturday/Sunday– Shows, Films, Workshops & Vendors), The Arts Garage 1533 Ridge Avenue, 19130 (Opening Night Party on Thursday 9PM-2:00AM), and Big Blue Marble Bookstore, 551 Carpenter Lane, 19119 (Children’s Storytime 11:00AM – 1:00PM).

This acclaimed, inclusive community event features interdisciplinary performances, exhibits, films, workshops, and vendors from Philadelphia and other states as far as California and Arizona.

Featured artists/confirmed films this year include: Shandra Staley, Dr. Niama L. Williams, Katrina Strickland, Jamie Walker, Ms. Wise, Rafiya, M’Balia, NASSUNNI, Danie Ocean, Lydia Rene, Brandi Pettijohn, Saida Agostini, Anonymous7, Valencia Bey, Claudia Street, Joyce Angela Jellison, Pat McLean, Connie Muhammad, Kina the Prophetic Poet, Stephanie Durann, Jaz, J Mase III, Crystal Hawkins, Anyta Thomas and Salon Joose, Dr. Belinda M. Wilson, Evita Castine, Jacquetta Szathmari, and O aka Loretta Lynn Payne.
Some highlights of this year’s events include: Damali Abrams’ “Self-Help TV”, Jacquetta Szathmari’s comedic monologue “That’s Funny You Didn’t Sound Black On the Phone” (her theatre/production company is called Big Guns Big Tobacco), the music & spoken word of Anonymous7, who will be accompanying BWAF’s first ever Erotic Open Mic Night, the music of Lydia Rene, Danie Ocean, and much more.
